existing designs

We allow users to turn existing designs into Star Eaters world characters! This also includes characters with other active original species versions! You must follow these guidelines though!

• if traded the designs MUST be traded together. If you trade the Star Eaters version the original should go with it and vice versa.
  • We do not allow design splitting in this way and consider it along the lines of scamming and it will be handled as such.
• Using an existing design that YOU OWN that is designed by someone else is allowed. While we would like it if you got permission from the designer first we realize it's not always possible. Please at least ensure that adding the design to the species falls within that designers TOS.
  • If a designer comes to us with evidence that their TOS disallowed redesigns/species versions of their designs to be made AT THE TIME OF YOUR PURCHASE the design will be removed.
• When submitting a pre-existing design please link the toyhou.se or other profile of the design for verification
• If the design is in another ACTIVE ARPG with a similarly traited / similar concept species we require that the design to be different in some way to distinguish it from the other species. This is to prevent possible exploitation of the currency systems in both species. Exceptions to this rule will be specified
• Existing designs that are ALREADY a Star Eaters universe species cannot be made into another one.
  • exceptions being traits that allow species shapeshifting such as Star Eaters Mismatching Species Surface Form!

Mock Designs

Mock designs are designs created based on a species from within the Star Eaters Universe that are currently NOT an official part of the game. These designs are either made with the intent to make them official later on, or simply as fan characters inspired by the world that aren't meant to be part of the game.

Mock designs are allowed for any species within the Star Eaters Universe! However, there are certain limitations to this.

• Mock designs MUST be disclosed as such to users you are trading/selling with or getting art of them from the community!
  
  • This is to prevent people from unkowingly doing art for comet coins of characters that are not eligable and being unable to recieve the rewards.
• Mock designs are NOT ELIGIBLE for in-game rewards and prompt submissions. Attempting to submit them for rewards will not grant you anything as you still need to go through the official submission process to add the character to the game!
• Mock designs can be sold as adopts, customs, etc. There is no limit to this as mock designs are not regulated by the Star Eaters staff.
• Mock designs are to be traded/purchased for at the buyer's own risk, and Star Eaters staff will not be able to step in at any point during transactions related to mock designs. Please always make sure to do your research, ask for Masterlist links, etc. before buying designs off-site.
  • Please DO still report scams to the Star Eaters staff so that we can keep an eye out and ban scammers from the website and game! We want the community to be as safe as possible!!
• Buyers should be made aware that a mock design is not an official part of the game, and that it will still need the proper items to make them official if they so desire them to be.
• If it comes to our attention that you are selling mock designs without disclosing that they are as such and/or you are advertising mocks as official, you may be subject to being banned from the game as per the "No Scamming" rules.

Mock designs can be made into an official part of the game at any point in time using the traditional character creation method on-site! This will require the proper items on the website which can be earned through regular gameplay! Please keep these following points in mind, however:

• Because of the unregulated nature of mock designs, there is the potential need for edits before they can be made official. Be ssure to double check traits and design requirements of the species before attempting to submit them on-site! You can also ask about your design in the Official Discord Server in the "Design Help" section of the chat! [linked in the footer of the website]
• If you would like to keep your mock design's worth and have it reflected on the website, please make sure to submit proof of purchase using the comments section of your MYO submission! We want to make sure your design keeps its value just as much as you do!

character based characters

Character based characters are character designs that are inspired by a character or other thing within popular media.

We do allow Character Based Characters (CBCs) within the Star Eaters world! Following these guidelines:

• CBCs are to be created at the CBC OWNERS RISK. Please be sure to do your research and ensure the media you're creating a CBC of is ok with it.
  • If a media owner expresses discomfort with your CBC and wishes it to be taken down it can be removed by staff without an item refund. Do your own research to ensure the CBC is allowed by the media owner.
• CBCs can be designs based off large media [such as animes/mangas, TV shows, books, movies, AAA games]
  • We reccomend staying away from smaller media for CBCs unless the media creator has expressed that they are ok with this sort of inspiration!
  • WE DO NOT allow CBCs based on peoples OCs [those arent media! they're personal characters.]
• CBCs MUST be able to stand on their own as their own character.  Accessories and hairstyles based on media characters is ok!
• CBCs CANNOT use copyrighted logos [such as the Disney logo] in their design.
• We ask that you disclose the CBC character/media when submitting a design, this will not be shared with anyone and will be used to verify that the CBC is following our guidelines!

Things that DO NOT count as CBCs

• Song based designs
• aeshetic board designs
• designs based on the aesthetic of real life places [such as theme parks]
  • these are still subject to the no copyrighted logos rule!
• designs based on plushies that arent connected to media or characters

While we don't enforce this we do ask that when trading a CBC you disclose it to the potential traders as a coutesy!

Banned topics

Attempting to submit a Character design that violates these rules will result in the rejection of the design

• We do not allow hateful symbolism [ex. nazi imagery, confedarate flag designs, racial charactures, exc] on a Star Eater design. Attempting to submit a Star Eater design including these symbols may result in an immediate ban along with denial of the design itself.
• We do not allow designs based directly on real people / celebrities
  • This includes real life historical figures (ex. Alan Turing)
• We do not allow Sexual NSFW designs
  • No genitalia, No fetishized anatomy, no sexual symbols or markings
